Sharmans Cross Rugby Ground-housing development

Postby poloplayer » "Fri Dec 05, 2008 12:04 pm"

many objections from local residents,it seems. But surely it is BECAUSE the site IS in a desirable residential area that it SHOULD be developed sensitively with quality housing.Enough of these tiresome rugby types crawling all over the area on match days with their raucous, boisterous and disorderly behaviour-and as for the fly parking of cars on nearby roads!. So Local Action Groups, think carefully and leave no stone unturned to ensure that the rugby club is facilitated in its proposed relocation to The Borough Stadium. :D

Couldn't agree more, Poloplayer; however with development land running at £1.4 to £1.8M per acre its a small wonder that this is all about cash, the generation of, in large quantities.
The bit that irks me more than somewhat is the fact that the opponents of this scheme seem to belive that they own not only their property, but the view from it as well.
Putting 87 houses on that patch is over the top, though - the equivalent of a small estate in itself- and the resultant density would be way above that of the surrounding area.
Were I still on the planning committee, I think I'd have been inclined towards refusing this on those grounds alone.
JB.
